Our unique line of fluid-free nodal pan-tilt heads are precision instruments built to withstand the rigors of film-work in a wide variety of locations. Our heads move in sync with the applied motion and intentions of the operator without having to adjust for the usual variations in force required to start and stop traditional heads. Additionally, our heads contain no fluids, only mechanical components designed for controlling the camera in the most natural way.
With a traditional fluid head, the oil gets heavy and slow in cold temperatures, affecting the effort that needs to be exerted in order to make a move. In hot temperatures, the opposite effect takes place. This oil also has the unfortunate tendency to leak, which can result in costly and time-consuming repairs that limit your productivity. We resolved these challenges with our fluid-free nodal head designs.
We offer two camera head models, the Velvet and the Velour, covering ground from DSLR to 3D rigs. Both can be used in conjunction with our family of camera support systems and other camera support tools in the industry.
The MYT Velour is a heavy duty nodal head meant to support the heaviest of camera setups with large camera lenses totaling up to 80 lb. The Velour can support the full gamut of popular cameras including the Panasonic Varicam; Arri Alexa and Alexa Mini; Phantom High Speed Cameras; RED Weapon, Scarlet, and Epic; Sony F5/F55; Canon C300 and C500 and even 16mm and 35mm film cameras. It also offers an alternative to traditional fluid based heads as it adapts to underslung shooting.
- Load Capacity: 80lbs

What Distinguishes a Mechanical, Friction-Based Head from a Fluid Head?
Each of our heads is based on a fully mechanical design that uses industrial-grade slewing bearings on the pan and tilt axes with the exact amount of friction for exceptional precision and repeatability. Unlike regular fluid heads, the mechanical nature of our fluid-free design eliminates the drawbacks of changing oil viscosity. In a traditional fluid head, the oil responsible for damping the move is put into motion when the operator exerts force on the head. The inertia of this oil causes the fluid head’s behavior to lag behind the operator’s input. As a result, the beginning and ending motions are difficult to control cleanly: often the head will overshoot where the operator wished to stop. We eliminated this problem by eliminating the oil. The MYT Works Nodal Heads follow your input precisely, responding to accelerations without lag.
